Tiger first baseman Sam Carr of Central Christian College, has earned another "feather in his cap!" Last week Carr, a Junior for Coach Marsh's Tigers, was named to the 2010 "Hank Burbridge Unlimited Potential's Christian Leadership" Award by the National Christian College Athletic Association. Unlimited Potential, Inc. is an organization that ministers to baseball programs around the world "serving Christ through baseball". Hank Burbridge was the long time baseball coach at Spring Arbor University and mentor/leader in NCCAA & NAIA baseball.

In order to be eligible for this award, the student-athlete must be: at least a junior; possess and demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities; possess and demonstrate outstanding athletic ability; possess and demonstrate vibrant and clear Christian testimony on and off the field; demonstrate unlimited potential in serving Christ through athletics, his local fellowship, sports evangelism and/or Christian organizations, and possess at least a 2.50 GPA.

Carr had an outstanding year hitting .403 in 50 games while accumulating 60 hits, 25 RS, 11 doubles, 1 triple, 8 HR's, 40 RBI and 8 SB. He was a unanimous selection as 1st team MCAC All-Conference at 1B and was also named to the NCCAA Central All-Regional team at 1B. He has also served as the captain for the Tigers the last two years.

Sam is the son of Vickie Carr of Lee's Summit, MO . This summer, Sam is doing an internship with Fellowship of Christian Athletes in Kansas City, Mo. Sam is studying Organizational Leadership at Central Christian College and currently carries a 2.91 GPA.
