As part of the NAIA's Champions of Character initiative, the Central Christian College men's and women's tennis teams spent two days a week for three weeks in September participating as tennis instructors for a home school tennis clinic at the Challengers Park tennis courts in McPherson. The clinic was headed by former CCC tennis Coach Shana Leck. This year's CCC tennis teams provided on court instruction and served as role models for the kids. There were six days of instruction, and each day, a new tennis concept was introduced and by the end of the three weeks, kids who had never played the game of tennis before, were able rally back and forth with the coaches and each other. However, tennis wasn't the only focus of the clinic. Each session there was a devotion time where the kids heard a brief inspirational message on a character quality from the Bible. There were 14 children signed up for the clinic ranging in ages from 6 to 16. It was a great experience for everyone. The kids had a great time, and it gave the college players valuable experience , taking what they've learned over the years and passing it on to the next generation of tennis players.
