The Tigers competed in their own backyard this weekend, running a looped course around Wall Park in Mcpherson. Times across the entire field of athletes were about a minute and a half slower than usual, after rainstorms left the course muddy and uneven. Nevertheless, the Tigers persevered and produced solid times under the circumstances. Becca Way, competing unattached, crossed the line first for Central in a time of 23:36. Taylor Arnold and Elyse Merritt followed in times of 25:33 and 26:27 respectively. “While the times were obviously not ideal, the effort and comparative results show that we have improved significantly from the last meet and we're ready to run well on a faster course.” The Lady Tigers were joined by newcomer Amanda Berggren who was excited to complete her first 5k.

On the men's side, Eliud Ngetich was Central's only entry in the race. Though he was in the lead pack for the first loop, he made a conservative decision not to complete the course after an old injury made a reappearance. Hopefully this will allow him a full recovery before the team travels to Wynfield next Saturday for the NAIA Mid-States classic, a large and highly competitive meet. In past years the course has produced very fast times, and the Tigers looks forward to new school records for both the Men and Women.
