The CCC softball team wrapped up their 2012 season on Saturday with a pair of losses to nationally ranked Central Baptist College. The Lady Tigers caught fire late in the season, but it wasn't enough to derail the Mustangs on Saturday. The Tigers were defeated in game one 6-0, and then shut out again in the nightcap 9-0.

Mallory Smith was on the mound for the Tigers in game one. She pitched a complete game giving up six runs on 9 hits. She walked 5 and struck out 4 in the loss. The Tiger offense had to face one of the premier pitchers in the conference in Jessica Bock, and she showed why she is touted so highly. She faced only 23 Tiger batters, giving up only 2 hits. She had complete control over all her pitches, walking 0 Tigers and striking out 17. The two Tiger hits came from Hannah Martin and Kylie Damm.

In the second game of the twinbill, the Mustangs scored 9 runs on 10 hits. Desiree Yandell pitched a complete game for the Tigers. She faced 25 batters, walking 5, and striking out 1. The Tiger offense doubled their hit total from the previous game with 4. The 4 Tiger hits came off the bats of Dana Dean, Hannah Martin, Kylie Damm, and Tiffany Burget. Burget's hit was double.

In between games, the Tigers honored three seniors who will be graduating this month. Amber Medlin and Tiffany Burget played four years at CCC and Hannah Martin played two years.

Tiffany Burget finished her career with a .258 batting average, and a .318 slugging percentage. She had 338 at bats, striking out 63 times and walking 23 times. She had 85 hits including 9 doubles, 1 triple, and 3 homeruns. She scored 85 runs, and drove in 34 more. Defensively she spent most of her time in the field behind the plate. She started 122 games, had 247 putouts, and 46 assists.

Amber Medlin finishes her career with a .212 batting average, and a .224 slugging percentage. She went to the plate 170 times walking 18 times and striking out 68 times. She had 36 hits including 2 doubles. She scored 19 runs and had 11 RBI. Almost all of her action on the field came at 1^st base. For her career, she had 434 putouts, and 12 assists.

Hannah Martin transferred to CCC last spring. In her two seasons as a Tiger, she hit .360 and had a .449 slugging percentage. She played 79 games, and started 70 of them. She had 236 appearances at the plate with 10 walks and 21 strikeouts. She hit the ball 85 times including 19 doubles and 1 triple. She scored 31 runs and had 42 RBI. On the defensive side of things, Hannah played the "hot corner". She had 122 putouts, and 105 assists.

The Tigers finished the season with an 8-38 record, but an impressive 6-8 record in the MCAC. They increased their overall win total from last year by four and their conference win total by six. Their six conference wins were one more than their total for the six previous seasons. Things look like they are beginning to move in the right direction for the CCC Lady Tiger softball program. There are a lot of positive things they can build on from this season, going into next year.
