McPherson, KS - April 24, 2012 - 5'8" junior transfer Amber Chaney, from Cement, Oklahoma, has signed a letter of intent to play for the CCC women's basketball team in 2012. Chaney, a four year letter winner at Ninnekah High School, has been played the last two years at Western Oklahoma State College for head coach Rolondo De Laberra. This is a great signing for the Tigers as Chaney was an extremely decorated player coming out of high school. While at Ninnekah High School, Chaney averaged 15.9 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. She was a Grady County All Conference selection as well as earning OGBCA All Region honors.
Coach Lancaster plans on using Chaney as a combination guard / forward. "Amber is a nice fit for our program. As a junior college transfer she gives us some instant leadership and maturity. Amber is a hard worker and a scrappy player who can help us in the post or on the perimeter. I think she will help bring stability to the team."
Chaney shines in the classroom as well currently maintaining a 3.75 GPA. Amber is the daughter of Gereldene and Mark Chaney of Cement, Ok. She plans on pursuing a Liberal Studies Major while at Central.
