The Tiger women's soccer team wrapped up the 2011 season with a 0-0 tie with College of St. Mary. In the first half the Flames and the Tigers played very even. The Flames controlled more of the possession, but the Tigers did a nice job of counter attacking out of their defensive third and came up with multiple opportunities. Laura Harrison had an opportunity late in the half asthe Flame goal keeper misjudged a ball played across the 6 yard box. She made an amazing recovery to block Harrison's shot.
In the second half the Flames played much stronger, and the Tigers didn't play with a lot of intensity until late in the half. In the last ten minutes, the Tigers had two good opportunities off of corner kicks. Melissa Schreiner played two beautiful kicks from the corner giving the Tigers two point blank shots, but the CSM goal keeper made one miraculous save, and the other ball deflected off the crossbar.
Amanda Curtis faced 18 shots in goal. She came away with 9 saves. Coach Reimer wrapped things up saying, "We played hard all the way through the last minute of the season. I was proud of the way we still played for the win."
The Tigers finished the season 2-15-1 and 0-5-1 in the MCAC. They will lose 4 members of this year's squad to graduation in May.
