The Tigers played their last regular season home match on Saturday against Oklahoma Wesleyan. The Eagles handed the Tigers a 3-0 loss 9-25, 18-25, and 21-25. Other than the first set, the Tigers played very well. Overall as a Team the Tigers recorded 42 kills, 57 digs, and 2 blocks. Individually the Tigers were led by Angela Jamison in kills with 8 kills on 24 attempts and 2 errors. Senior Alayna Howell was right behind her with 7 kills on 26 attempts. 21 of the kills were a result of good setting by Audra Howell. Defensively, the digs were distributed between 3 leaders. Keindra Williams had 11, while Ashley Johnson and Audra Howell each had 10.
Coach Burrill summed up the day by saying, "Oklahoma Wesleyan is another tough opponent in our conference. They play very good defense and run some quick attacks to keep the block guessing. We have seen that a few times this season now, so it wasn't a surprise to us. We made a lot of errors on our side of the net in the 1st set. After that it was a battle for every point and we have two very strong finishing games. Their strength and experience won out in the end. We will gather ourselves up and prepare for two more intense conference battles next weekend at College of St. Mary and York."
The Tigers are now 8-14 on the season and 0-9 in the MCAC. They will finish the regular season next weekend with a pair of conference matches in Nebraska.
