The men's soccer reserve team played to a 2-2 draw at home Friday night against Southwestern College. The Moundbuilders scored first early in the first half off of a free kick. The Tigers evened things up midway through the half when Daniel Ingram scored his first goal off of a free kick taken by Jose Gomez. Both teams scored a second goal, the Tigers coming again from Daniel Ingram assisted by Andres Osorio, to finish regulation knotted a 2 apiece. The score would remain the same after two overtime sessions and the game ended in a draw. The Tigers nearly ended things with 10 seconds to go in the 2nd overtime period, but the Moundbuilder defense was able to clear the ball off the goal line before it crossed.
Lead Assistant Coach Micah Johnson was pleased with the team's performance saying, "We had our most complete performance as a team tonight. Little mistakes on both ends of the field cost us the win, but the guys fought hard the whole game. Guillermo Cruz, Nathan Palmer, and Daniel Ingram were all key contributors to tonight's success. We look forward to a rematch with Southwestern on October 3rd."
The Tiger Reserve Team is back in action Monday night at 8:00 pm across town at Mac College.
