The CCC men's soccer team came home from two games this weekend in Texas with a 1-1 split. In the Friday night game, the Tigers recorded their first shut out of the season against NCAA DIII McMurry University 2-0. Junior goal keeper Alex Akrawi recorded 4 saves in his first shut out as a Tiger. The Tigers out shot the War Hawks 20-9 in the win. The Tigers got on the board 15 minutesinto the game when Josh Nuckols found the back of the net off an assist from Grant Rardon. In the second half the Tigers got an insurance goal from Gunnar Kelly in the 51st minute.

Coach Ouren commented on his team's performance saying, "The coaching staff was pleased with the improvement from the first and second half. Additionally, we are excited to gain a second victory on the road and earn the programs first win v an NCAA institution. Moreover, we found ways to maintain control and come out with the win despite not playing well consistently through 90 minutes. Congratulations to Alex Akawri earning his first shutout and the team gaining a third consecutive victory."

The magical start to the Tigers' season came to an end on Saturday with a 1-3 loss to the Texas Wesleyan University Rams. The Rams scored all three of their goals in the first half on their way to outshooting the Tigers 22-16. The Tigers regrouped in the second half and scored the period's only goal when Gunnar Kelly found the back of the net off an assist from Stephen Craig. Goal keeper Alex Akrawi left the game in the 35th minute and was replaced by David Armstrong. Armstrong was tough between the pipes recording 3 saves without giving up a goal.

Coach Ouren was pleased with the way his team bounced back in the second half saying, "The coaching staff was proud of the guys continuing to work hard and adjust to some tactical changes and earning a goal. Specifically we would like to call attention to David Armstrong coming in for Alex Akrawi and our bench coming and giving us some good minutes."

The Tigers are now 3-1 on the season. They are back on the pitch Tuesday at home against the Friends Falcons at 8:00 pm.
