It was a tough night for the CCC women's soccer team. After defeating the Dallas Christian College Crusaders 7-0 on Friday night the tables turned on the Tigers against Bethel College on Saturday night. The Tigers played tough for the first 20 minutes of the game, but were unable to capitalize on a couple of early opportunities. It was the opposite for the Threshers. They made the most of opportunity they were given and found the net 4 times in the first half.
The Tigers came out in the second half determined, but an early goal by the Threshers took the wind out of their sails. Bethel tacked on two more goals to finish the game 7-0. The Tigers were out shot by the Threshers 11-20. Bri Horstmann and Amanda Curtis combined for the loss. Horstmann came up with 3 saves, and Curtis 2. Though tough to comment on a loss like this, Coach Mike Reimer said, "Youth inexperience, and injuries. We have some great young talent, but tonight we made too many mistakes. We also had a hard time stopping one very good and quick forward. We had plenty of chances also. Out of my 11 starters tonight only 1 has started for me more than 1 year. Captain Bridgett Nesvarba."
The Tigers drop to 1-2 on the young season. The ladies play again on Tuesday on the road against Sterling College at 5:00 pm.
