McPherson, KS – May 6, 2017 – The Central Christian College baseball team wrapped up their regular season last week with four conference games on the road at College of the Ozarks. Earlier this week, the A.I.I. announced their All-Conference teams.

Central's Hunter Wilcher was selected as a 2nd Team All-Conference selection, and Troy Carrigan chosen as the conference's recipient of the gold glove award at the Catcher position. Wilcher played in all 49 of the Tigers' regular season games, and was tie for the best batting average on the team with Mario Rivera at .333. He had 53 hits including 16 doubles, 1 triple, and 9 homeruns. He had a slugging percentage of .616, tops on the team and an on base percentage of .400, good for 5th among his Tiger teammates.

Carrigan is a defensive minded catcher with a canon for an arm. He had a fielding percentage of .980, and threw out 15 runners trying to steal. He recorded 179 putouts and was credited with 22 assists while committing just 4 errors on the season. At the plate he had 16 hits including 3 doubles, and tallied 6 RBI in 38 games played.

Next up for Wilcher, Carrigan, and the rest of the Tigers is a post season date with the NCCAA Central Region Tournament May 11-13, which is being hosted by the Tigers here in McPherson. The brackets are not quite final yet, but it appears the tournament may include an 8 team field with two pools of 4 and the winners of each pool squaring off for the championship.
