Baseball / Softball - Tue, Apr. 25, 2017

The Central Christian College baseball and softball teams are back on their respective diamonds today in home matchups. The softball team will be hosting a double header against the Crowley's Ridge College Pioneers at 1:00 and 3:00 while the baseball team will be hosting the McPherson College Bulldogs in a single 9 inning game set to start at 6:00 pm.

The Central softball team is riding a four game winning streak, and are winners of five of their last six contests. Their most recent outing was a two game sweep over the Haskell University Indians at home on Saturday. The Tigers run ruled the Indians in both games, winning game one 20-0 and then finishing the sweep by taking game two, 9-1. The Tigers put on an offensive display against the Indians with Cheyenne Bouis and Lyssa Ritchhart both hitting homeruns in the game one rout.

The Tigers will be taking on a Pioneer team that is 3-27 on the season, and hasn't played a game in nearly two weeks. Their last three double headers have been cancelled due to weather. Their last contest was a 6-4 win over Ecclesia back on April 15th.  The Tigers and Pioneers met earlier this month down in Arkansas with each team winning one of two. The Tigers took the opening game of the series 9-0, but the pioneer bounced back to take game two, 4-3.

For the Central baseball team, they will wrap up their four game series with the Mac College Bulldogs tonight at 6:00 pm out at Tiger stadium. After the Tigers took game one of the series back in February 10-4, the Bulldogs have bounced back and took game two 10-1, and then last week outlasted the Tigers 5-4 in extra innings to take a 2-1 series lead.

The Tigers are 12-32 on the season and have lost 10 straight games. Their latest outing was the 10th inning loss to the Bulldogs a week ago. The Bulldogs come into tonight's match up just three games below .500 at 23-26 on the year. They took one of three from Tabor College this past weekend, winning the first game of the series, but then dropping the final two.
