McPherson, KS - July 5, 2012 - Elyse Merritt, a senior from Parsons, Kansas, has signed a national letter of intent to play tennis at Central Christian College next year. Merritt, a graduate of Labette County High School, and a three year letter winner for Coach Jay Vanmiddlesworth, will add much needed depth to the Tiger tennis team. Elyse qualified for the state tournament her senior year, and was voted "Most Dedicated Player" by her teammates. Elyse has carried a 3.9 cumulative GPA throughout high school and was on the Presidential A & B Honor Roll all four years of her high school career.
CCC Tennis Coach Jeremy Nelson commented on the signing saying, "I am excited for what Elyse will bring to our program. She loves the game of tennis, and is determined to continue to improve herself and our program. She will come in immediately and fight for a varsity spot next fall."
Elyse is the daughter of Kent and Michelle Merritt of Parsons, Kansas. She isn't totally decided on her major while at Central, but is leaning possibly toward a Ministry Degree.
